Change Team:
FYIs, Uniform info

I’d like to send along a few final updates before practice tomorrow.

It turns out our team WILL be using the SSU Play app like in past seasons. Please use this to keep me up to date on your player’s attendance status for practices and games.

In my first message to you all, I mistakenly listed practices at a single hour; practices are actually an hour and a half.

Wednesdays @ MME field #2, 7p-8:30p
Thursdays @ Bennett field #4, 7p-8:30p
Saturdays @ Bennett field #4, 12p-1:30p

**I am currently looking for a parent volunteer to be our Team Manager** Having this role filled is a tremendous help. Please let me know if you’re interested and available. The team manager will help in supporting team functions by sending important updates to families via the app or website, and typically assists with things like uniforms.

Uniform info is due on Friday. Please email me with your child’s shirt size, and include height and weight, as we are allotted only so many jerseys in each size. Per usual, personalization of hats is not included with MBA enrollment; it is an all or none thing, and all teams I’ve been part of in the past have wanted this. Personalization is last names only. You can send payment ($5.00) to my paypal account santellab@gmail.com or cash is fine. If you need assistance with this fee, please let me know.

I’ve been asked to send another reminder indicating if MBA does not have your completed COVID-19 waiver, your child will not be able to participate.

If you have not reviewed the ‘return to practice guidelines,’ please do so before tomorrow evening and talk with your player about expectations during practice. In those guidelines you will see that if anyone in your family is feeling ill, or has any obvious respiratory symptoms, please stay home from practice.

This is a lot. This is also a strange time in the world, for all of us, and especially for these kids. I’d really like baseball to be a fun time for them. Here’s to a great season!

Welcome to Community 9 Baseball

Hello Parents!

My name is Ben Santella, also known as Coach Ben. I would like to welcome you to Highmark Companies Community 9 Baseball Team! First of all, I’d like to say how happy I am to get this season started finally! On that note, we are looking to have a fun, exciting, safe, and healthy season. As you probably know, there will be a few changes this year, starting with the social distancing guidelines we need to follow. Please let me know if you haven't recieved these from the leauge. Also, the league has sent out a COVID waiver that needs to be signed and turned in before any player or coach can participate in practices or games.

A couple of highlights:  - We will not be sharing any personal equipment, i.e., gloves, bats, helmets, and batting gloves. - Unfortunately, we do not have catchers gear for everyone to have their own, but the league is providing disinfectant products that will be used by a coach between players. Balls will also be cleaned before they are returned to a communal bucket. - Please provide hand sanitizer for your player as we will require the use during practice. - No sharing water bottles, so please bring your own, and these are especially important in the MN heat. - Lastly, carpooling at a minimum.

Highmark Companies Community 9 Baseball Team is made up of 13 amazing players and three coaches. I will be picking up equipment this week, and practice starts next Wednesday, June 17. This year will be a little different than what we have gotten used to in the last few years. Starting next week, we will have three practices per week as there are no games allowed at this time due to COVID restrictions. The schedule I received today has us practicing Wednesdays at MME field 2 from 7-8pm, Thursdays at Bennett field 4 from 7-8pm, and Saturdays at Bennett field 4 from 12-1pm. I realize these times may not work for everyone every week. I ask that you please do your best to be at practice as much as possible. We will begin by working on teamwork and the fundamentals of the game, as no matter how good of a player you are, there is always room to grow.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to email me at santellab@gmail.com, or call or text me at 612-281-3891.

I look forward to seeing everyone next Wednesday!

Thanks and be well, Coach Ben
