Program Options and League Descriptions 

Travel 15:

Cost: $790** (Plus paid coach surcharge of approx $200 per family if paid coaches are used)

Number of Teams: Typically 1 AAA, 1 AA and 2 14/15 A

Number of Players per team: 12-13

These teams have 2 Format options (Decided by Coach & Team  vote prior to season)

   1. Play in MBL (Metro Baseball League) with the standard 14 weekday League games and 4 Weekend tournaments with the potential of 2 State Tournamnets.

   2. Play as a Tournament-only team.  This team would practice/scrimmage during the week and play tournaments on the weekends.  The Number of tournaments would be up to  the Team Families. The League would cover up to $2000 of the tournament fees and any additional fees and travel expenses—including Coach expenses—would be covered by the team families.

Excelsior Jr Legion:  (Typically comprised of mainly previous MBA  AAA and AA with a few A Players)

Cost: $1800 (includes Players’ Travel expenses)

Number of teams: 1

Number of players per team: 14-16 (Includes possible “Pitcher-only”Players)

This Team plays in the Legion system and will play 35-40 Games with one out of town tournament and 1-2 local tounaments (The Melde Tournament being one of them)

Travel 17 (New):  (This team would typically be comprised of mainly previous MBA AAA players)

Cost: $1850 Position Players, $1450 Pitcher Only Player (Plus Travel Expenses)

Number of teams 1

Number of players per team: 13-17 (Includes possible “Pitcher-only” players)

This team will play approx. 25-35 games per season with practices and scrimmages during the week, 3 out of state tournaments, and 2 metro tournaments

Travel 16-18 (Tier IA) (Mud Hens and Lugnuts) (This team would typically be comprised of mainly previous MBA AA and A  players) 

Cost: $590 (Plus Travel Expenses)

Number of teams 1 or 2 (Depending on interest level)

Number of players per team: 14-16 (Includes possible “Pitcher-only”players)

This team will play 30-35 games per season in the Legion system (on a lower tier).  They will play one out of town tournament, one local tournament, and one end of season tournament.

Excelsior Legion 2  (Typically comprised of mainly previous MBA  AAA and AA with a few A Players)

Cost: $1800  (includes Players’ Travel expenses)

Number of teams: 1

Number of players per team: 14-16 (Includes possible “Pitcher-only”Players)

This Team plays in the Legion system and will play 35-40 Games with one Major out of town tournament and 1-2 local tounaments (The Gopher Classic Tournament being one of them).

Excelsior Legion 1

Cost: $1800 (includes Players’ Travel expenses)

Number of teams: 1

Number of players per team: 14-16 (Includes possible “Pitcher-only” Players.)

This Team plays in the Legion system and will play 35-40 Games with one Major out of town tournament and 1-2 local tounaments (The Gopher Classic Tournament being one of them).

Community 16-18 (This league is made up of players from all levels in MBA)

Cost: $250

Number of teams: 3-6 (Depending on interest)

Number of players per team: 14-16

These teams play in the SYBL (Senior Youth Baseball League).  They typically play approx. 15-20 games per season against other nearby communities as well as other Tonka teams.  In addition, these teams will participate in an end of year tournament.
