Good Morning!

I believe I have found next weekends tournament schedule.  Nothing has officially been sent out to us, but we will let you know as soon as we hear something!  In the meantime, it appears you can add these times/dates to your busy schedules :)  I stumbled across this schedule on my Tourney Machine app.  Might be helpful for you to have this app too.

10 am vs. Rochester, Shannon Park Elementary Field 5

12 pm vs. Burnsville, Shannon Park Elementary Field 5

4 pm vs. Lakeville South, Shannon Park Elementary Field 4

It appears that if we get 1st or 2nd place in our pool of 4 teams, we will be playing at 9 am & 11 am on Sunday!

Opening Day! (and optional batting cage practice on Weds)
by posted 04/26/2021

Opening Day Was a Success Despite the Weather (and no bathrooms)!  Thanks to those of you who could make it to the game.

(Before the game recap, just wanted to let you know that the 6pm practice this Weds is OPTIONAL. I have added a few batting cage practices throughout the season to give kids more cuts against live pitching but all of these will be optional.

Was a chilly start to the season as those of you who attended will attest.  But, that didn't keep the 10A Skippers from coming out blazing in their first offical game.  With only 4 practices, all of which were on 40 degree and cloudy days, and a scrimmage to prepare for the season, the guys did amazing.  I was most impressed by the hustling as well as the shortstop and 2nd baseman backing up the the throws from the catcher to the pitcher.  We worked on this a lot at the scrimmage on Saturday and it seems to be settling in. And solid hitting and defense today yet there are plenty of things to work on at the next practice (like the catcher not throwing the ball to 2nd base with a runner on 3rd).  So, a lot to be proud of today.

Every game there will be a "Hustle Award" for the player that consistently hustles on and off the field and is constantly trying their best.  Tonight's award went to Cooper for always backing up on defense and having a great attitude -- way to go, Cooper! A runner up tonight was August for his incredible catching.  He most certainly saved several runs from scoring with his blocks.

Today's game is a great lesson in practicing good sportsmanship.  I heard a few comments that "we are crushing them" and "the new pitcher is bad".  I reminded them in the dugout in real time that those are not appropriate comments.  We need to respect the other team and the game regardless of the score.  Because we could certainly be on the other end at some point season and even if we're not, it's the right thing to do anyway.

See you on Weds or Thurs!
