MBA COMMUNITY 12-18 TOURNAMENT RULES

 Community 12/13

IF A  RULE IS NOT ADDRESSED WITHIN THESE “COMMUNITY TOURNAMENT RULES,” ALL REGULAR SEASON RULES ARE ASSUMED TO BE IN EFFECT

Tournament Format: The teams are seeded into the bracket based randomly. Teams should reference the bracket for timing of potential games.

Bracket Placement: The seedings are determined by random placement of teams into the bracket and teams will be placed into the bracket accordingly.

Game Length: Regular season rules regarding time limits for game play will be utilized with the exception of the Championship game and 3rd Place Games; there will be no time limit on those specific games. If weather shortens the game, the League Director and / or Tournament Director shall convene with the coaches to make a decision, but first of which will be the score after each full inning of play, depending on when the game was interrupted.

Game Rules: No deviation from regular season rules unless determined by the League and/or Tournament Director

Eligibility: This is an MBA in-house tournament, so all players assigned to your roster are eligible to take part in the tournament. All replacement players must be pre-approved by the MBA tournament director.  Any violation of this rule may result in forfeiting their game.

Home Team Designation: The higher seed (i.e. 1 being the highest seed) will be the home team and they will occupy the third base dugout and be responsible for the scoreboard.

Pitch Counts: Players will be allowed to throw a maximum of 130 pitches for the tournament. They are allowed to throw a maximum of 65 pitches per game and 90 pitches per day.

Scoring: Scores will be kept similar to the regular season. At the completion of each game the coach / score keeper must communicate game results to the league and tournament director to ensure brackets are updated timely for subsequent games.

Tie Score: In the event of a tie score after complete game requirements have been met (time limit, or 7 innings, or weather or darkness), the higher seeded team will advance as the winner.  The score should be reported to reflect a winner, not a tie to allow the app to function correctly.

The exception to this rule will be the Championship Game, 3rd place Game and Consolation Championship Game. In the event of a tie after the seventh innings of play for these games, teams will play extra innings until a winner has been determined.
